Obstetric Care

WIM OB/GYN

We Are Women’s Health Experts.

Preconception Counseling

The goal of preconception care is health education and promotion, risk assessment, and intervention before pregnancy to reduce the chances of poor pregnancy outcomes. At WIM OBGYN we would love the opportunity to meet with you and review your medical history and discuss any potential pregnancy risk prior to conceiving.

Prenatal Care and Testing

Prenatal testing is an array of routine and specialized test that are aimed at monitoring fetal development, evaluating maternal health and assessing the risk of complications.

Genetic Testing

  • Carrier screening – Type of genetic test (maternal blood test) that can tell you whether you carry a gene for certain genetic disorders. When it is done before or during pregnancy, it allows you to find out your chances of having a child with a genetic disorder. Examples of common genetic disorders that can be screened for include cystic fibrosis and Sickle cell anemia.
  • Aneuploidy testing – Type of genetic test performed on maternal blood sample to screen for fetal chromosomal abnormalities or neural tube defects (abnormalities of the brain, spine)

High Risk Pregnancy

Some women may have medical problems or issues that cause their pregnancy to be considered “high risk.” We are able to care for most women with high risk pregnancies. If indicated, we often work closely with the high-risk pregnancy specialist at St. Ann’s Maternal fetal medicine to coordinate care.

VBAC

Our providers have training to take care of women who have history of previous cesarean section and we support vaginal birth after cesarean.

Birth Plan Support

It is important to us that our patients are given the opportunity to communicate their goals and wishes for before, during and after labor and delivery. We work with our patients to help facilitate these wishes and goals and support them through labor and delivery.

Postpartum Support

The postpartum period is full of new experiences, emotions and physical changes for women and their families, and we are here to help you know what is normal and work through any issues or complications that arise.
